Betting on the Arizona Wildcats Basketball Team

When Lute Olson joined Arizona as the Wildcats head coach in 1983, he immediately developed a winning tradition. He led the Wildcats to an NCAA Championship in 1997, followed by the NCAA tournament runner-up spot in 2001.

Wearing Cardinal red and Navy blue uniforms and playing in the McKale Center, the Wildcats are a member of the PAC-12 as a Division I NCAA school. The program has earned the nickname "Point Guard U" because successful college and NBA point guards like Steve Kerr, Damon Stoudamire, Mike Bibby, Jason Terry, Gilbert Arenas, Jason Gardner, and Jerryd Bayless have come through the program.

In recent years the Arizona Wildcats men's basketball team has been very successful. The team made it to the NCAA March Madness postseason tournament 25 straight years from 1985 to 2009. At the end of the 2013 – 2014 season Wildcats reached the Elite Eight, and the school consistently vies for the PAC-12 Conference title.

Betting the Arizona Wildcats in 2021-2022

The current NCAAB TItle futures odds that are being offered for the Arizona Wildcats in 2021-22 are sitting at a +6000 moneyline. That does not translate to an incredibly likely chance for the Wildcats to win their second NCAA Tournament Championship, but just being included in the futures odds implies that they will likely qualify for March Madness and make a run at it.

A $1 wager on Arizona's futures odds will earn $60 if they win the National Championship this year, so it pays to get in on such an advantageous moneyline during the preseason.

Top 3 Arizona Wildcat Basketball Players of All-Time

#1 Sean Elliot (1985 – 89)

It is easy to make an argument for small forward Sean Elliot as the best Arizona Wildcat basketball player of all time. His high school career in Tucson, Arizona drew the attention of the Wildcats, and their belief in the slim 6'8" ballplayer was rewarded handsomely.

Elliott still ranks as the leading scorer in Wildcat history with 2,555 points, knocking down 19.2 points per contest. Elliott was PAC-10 player of the year twice and a consensus All-American during both his junior and senior seasons. The Wildcats program reached its first Final Four with Elliott during his junior season. Elliott also achieved national player of the year status as a senior Wildcat.

#2 Damon Stoudamire (1991 – 95)

Arizona is known as "Point Guard U", and one of the best at that position ever was 5'10" Damon Stoudamire. Aside from handing out 663 assists in his four-year career, Stoudamire was an outstanding score, something that most point guards are not asked to contribute on a consistent basis. His senior season was exceptionally memorable, as he averaged 22.8 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game.

As a junior, he teamed up with Khalid Reeves to lead the U of A to the NCAA Final Four. He achieved First Team All-American status and was a finalist for College Player of the Year as a senior. He finished his time in Arizona as the Wildcats all-time leader in three-pointers made (272), 4th in assists, and 2nd in points scored (1,849). He is also the only Wildcat to have scored 40 or more points in a game twice.

#3 Steve Kerr (1983 – 88)

As one of the most popular Arizona Wildcats of all time, Steve Kerr was also one of the school's best players. Known for lights out shooting, he averaged a blazing 54.8% from the field. He was also known as an extremely consistent player, averaging 3.4 assists and 11.2 points per game in his four-year career.

He truly reached his potential as a senior. That was when Kerr broke the NCAA record for three-point field-goal percentage in a single season, knocking down an incredible 57.4% of his three-point shots. In 1988, under the stewardship of legendary Wildcat coach Lute Olsen and with fellow U of A great Sean Elliott, Kerr helped Arizona reached the Final Four in the NCAA March Madness tournament.
